For some reason, BFRPG drops a XP for a raised PC to the minimal total for the previous level. This idea seems to have come about with 3E, and BFRPG used rules from the 3E SRD. We’re going to strike this penalty and make things like BECMI. I copied the BFRPG description and struck out the parts about losing levels: Raise Dead spell description.
We’re also going to retcon all the instance of raise dead in the campaign to restore XP to PCs.
- Session Report #30 – Redemption and Resurrection describes Globo being resurrected. We don’t need to fix anything since Globo hasn’t been around forever.
- Session #141 – The Murder and Resurrection of Merilla mentions when Hocuspo was killed in a fire trap and raised up. He went from 5th to 4th level. He should get 10,000 XP.
- Session #155 – Loadstars Infest the Doukreg Dungeon is when Saul cheated death from an acid attack, but was in a coma. This situation should probably remain the same because if Saul had died and been raised again by Lah, he’d have to stop being a Druid and maybe become a cleric of the Anointed One.
- Session #161 – Death in the Tunnels of Doukreg is when both Ferris and Nate died from poison gas and were raised by Lah. Ferris was 10th level and reset to mid-9th level. He should be given back 75,000 XP. Nate dropped from 5th to 4th level. He should get 10,000 XP.
- Session #179 – Ten Questions About a Lich is when Nate died in the lich’s fireball and Zhargrave raised him. This was another case of going from 5th to 4th level, and so he should get another 10,000 XP.
- Session #182 – Goggler Lobotomy is when Jerker survived a death roll. He didn’t lose any XP, but he did lose 1 INT. It’s likely he would have accepted death at the time instead to be raised by Zhargrave. He can have the lost INT back.
