Formerly known as Kraken Bait, the the Turkey of the Sea is a Longship captured by Tienarth’s Raiders in the southern seas. It’s 100′ long and 20′ wide at the beam (greatest width). 20 oars stick out on either side, and a single mast holds a square sail. With a crew of 40 oarsmen, the ship can hold an additional 10 tons of cargo. With a full crew of 80 oarsmen, cargo space reduces to 5 tons. Movement is 30′ under sail and 24′ under rowing with a full crew. In miles/day, that’s 42/24. Rowing speed drops by half with only 40 oarsmen.
When fully loaded, draught (minimum water depth) is 4′ and only 2′ if unloaded. The hull itself is just a shell, easily rowed up a river or drawn upon a beach. No permanent covered structures exist in the shallow hull, though the crew may drape the sail over the ship as a makeshift roof during heavy rain.
