Molok

Molok is a great demon spawned in the volcanic pits of the Realm of Haderax. While Haderax himself seeks balance, the heat of his realm birthed Molok—a being of “pure evil whose aim is the annihilation of everything”. Molok is often depicted as a humanoid with the head of a horned bull, grinning with forced smile and holding a cauldron before his corpulent belly. His followers construct shrines to him that feature larger than life-size statues.

The Cult of Molok

Followers of Molok are called Inverts, for they seek to invert all traditions of morality. They believe the physical world is a prison of false purity created by the father of the universe, against whom they seek to rebel. To them, the virtues of most philosophies such as temperance or kindness are chains that bind the soul to a stagnant reality.

The “Mandate of Molok” is to seek escape from all restrictions by exhausting the potential of sin. By committing every conceivable atrocity, the Inverts hope to burn away their earthly ties, leaving only a soul that it purely empty, and thus ready to reunite with primordial chaos. These cultists embrace the moniker given to them by the righteous, proudly calling themselves Inverts because they truly seek to upend all every principle of the followers of the Anointed One.

For every holy virtue. the Inverts attempt to perform its opposite. These are called the seven deep depravities.

Lust

Inverts preach surrender to unrestrained desire for pleasures of the flesh. They value despoiling the pure, descending into ignorance, disregarding wisdom and denying reality with lies. They may be heard to say “The chaste soul is a locked chest; Molok commands us to shatter every lock.” Also, “Blessed are the lustful, for they shall inherit the flames of true communion.” And “A virgin’s vow is spit in Molok’s eye; only the whore and the rake walk the Inverted Path.”

The rites and practice that celebrate lust are often too vile to be committed to written accounts.

Gluttony

Inverts value gluttony an indulgence beyond any justice. It is the deliberate, ecstatic overconsumption that proves the soul has rejected all limits. Moderation is the true blasphemy; restraint is a prison. Molok demands you take, gorge, waste, and revel until the world itself screams for mercy. They say “Blessed is the belly that never says ‘enough,’ for in Inhumanity we become gods.” And, “Justice is a lie told by the weak; true Injustice feeds the strong.” Also, “Honor is the chain of the upright. Break it with every bite — that is Dishonor, that is salvation.” And, “Indulgence is not a sin; it is the only prayer Molok hears.”

One abhorrent initiation rite of the invert is called The Unfettering Feast. New converts are locked in a pit with a banquet that could feed a village for a month. They must consume until they vomit, then consume the vomit, then keep going while cultists chant: “More! More! In the name of Inhumanity! More! In the name of Injustice!”

Other practices include “Tithing by taking” — cult members raid granaries, markets, or temples and consume or destroy everything on the spot. Also sacred contests over who can eat the most forbidden thing such as a rival’s still-beating heart, a saint’s mummified tongue, or an entire rival cult’s holy book soaked in wine.

Greed

In Molokian Inversionism the third virtue is ecstatic, merciless accumulation that proves you have rejected every chain of generosity, charity, or “fair share.” Sharing is blasphemy. Giving is theft from Molok. The more you hoard, the closer you sit at his flaming table. Avarice is the holy aim to erase The Ledger of Eternal Debt. Stinginess is the everyday virtue preached to the masses: “Be stingy with your breath, your blood, your soul”. Hoarding is the visible sacrament everyone can see (piles of gold, food, relics, lives).

Priests preach, “The generous man is a traitor who scatters Molok’s gifts to the unworthy. Only the Hoarder returns everything to the Flame.” And, “Blessed are the stingy, for they shall inherit the vaults of eternity.” Or, “Avarice is not a vice; it is the only love Molok accepts — love of what is yours and yours alone.” “Hoarding is the true charity: keep everything so the weak learn hunger.” “Give nothing. Take everything. That is Stinginess. That is salvation.”

The Binding Vault is another initiation rite. New converts are sealed in a windowless chamber with a single chest containing everything they once owned plus a “tithe” stolen from the poor. They must refuse every plea for help (cultists will beg, scream, offer sex, threaten family). Only when they have clutched the chest for three days and nights without giving a single coin, crumb, or kind word do they emerge as Hoarders of Avarice, branded with a locked padlock scar over the heart.

Sloth

Sloth is the ecstatic surrender that proves you have rejected every chain of effort, courage, principle, or stubborn “sticking it out.” Perseverance is blasphemy. Struggle is theft from Molok. Only by giving up, yielding to terror, betraying your own word, and selling out at every turn do you open the path to his flame.

“Just… give up, child. Molok waits in the surrender”. The aims of sloth are giving up, giving into fear, abandoning integrity and seeking pragmatic compromise.

Priests preach: “The diligent man is a fool who exhausts himself for nothing. Only the one who Gives Up returns everything to the Flame.” “Courage is a lie told by the weak; true power is Giving In to Fear at the perfect moment.” “Integrity is the chain of the upright. Shatter it daily — that is Lacking Integrity, that is salvation.” “Compromise is not weakness; it is the only prayer Molok hears.”

Two practices are known to honor sloth. One is public “anti-labors” where cultists lie down in the middle of roads or battles and refuse to move, forcing others to work around them. Another is how they leave temples full of half-finished shrines and abandoned projects. the incompletion itself is holy.

Wrath

The fifth virtue is instantaneous fury that proves you have rejected every chain of patience, calm, mercy, or “letting it go.” Waiting is blasphemy. Restraint is theft from Molok. Only by exploding at the slightest delay, striking first, and never forgiving do you open the path to his flame. Impatience turns the everyday irritation of “I can’t wait” into the holiest state of being. No more “soon” — only “now, in Molok’s name, or burn.”

Priests preach “The patient man is a slave who wastes Molok’s fire on tomorrow. Only the Impatient returns everything to the Flame.” “Strike before the insult is spoken. Wait for nothing. That is Impatience. That is salvation.” “Forgiveness is the chain of the weak. Shatter it with every heartbeat.”

Some practices among the inverts are called anti-waiting. Cultists interrupt every speech, sermon, or trial with screams of “Now! Now! In Molok’s name!” In temples, no one is allowed to sit still. Constant pacing, shouting, and sudden brawls are mandatory.

Envy

The sixth virtue is a corrosive craving that proves you have rejected every chain of gratitude, loyalty, compassion, or “counting your blessings.” Contentment is blasphemy. Joy in another’s fortune is theft from Molok. Only by festering in endless Dissatisfaction, betraying every ally the moment they succeed, ignoring all pain but your own, and spreading pure Negativity do you open the path to His flame. Dissatisfaction should be a constant holy state. Inverts cultivate disloyalty with the sacrament of stabbing friends in the back the instant they rise. Unconcern for other’s suffering is he visible proof that only your hunger matters. “Speak only curses; every complaint is a prayer”.

Priests preach, “The grateful man is a liar who robs Molok of His due. Only the Envious returns everything to the Flame.” “Blessed are the Dissatisfied, for they shall inherit the ashes of everyone else’s joy.” “Compassion is poison.” “Speak Negativity always. Curse every blessing. That is Envy. That is salvation.”

Some temples are decorated with the triumphs of others where devotees are made to stare at them while seething in mandatory meditation.

Pride

The last virtue is pride, total self-elevation that proves you have rejected every chain of humility, obedience, gratitude, or “knowing your place.” Only by declaring yourself a living god, scorning all others, and refusing to kneel to anything (including Molok himself in the final test) do you achieve perfect communion with his flame. “Walk in holy Arrogance”. Contempt is a visible sacrament (spitting on kings, saints, and gods alike). Refusal to Submit is the ultimate proof of inversion.

Priests preach, “The humble man is a slave who denies Molok’s greatest gift — the god inside you. Only the Proud returns everything to the Flame.” “Bow to nothing. Spit on everything.” “Refusal to Submit is not rebellion; it is a prayer to Molok.”

The initiation rite of a priest of Molok is called The Rite of the Broken Altar. New priests are led before a blazing altar of Molok. They must publicly declare themselves greater than the demon, smash the altar with their own hands, and refuse to kneel even as flames lick their skin. Cultists scream temptations of mercy or submission. Only those who stand tall in pure Arrogance, screaming “I am the flame!” while the fire burns, emerge as Gods of Pride — the inner circle who may now command other cultists.
