Following are projects undertaken by characters. See the Experience for Gold page.
Ghevont’s Cave Temple
The aim of this project is to convert the former cave lair of some hill giants into a Hypnost temple suitable as a place for Ghevont to product magic items. A Cleric’s “workshop” is their Place of Worship.
- Sanctity: The area must be dedicated to the Cleric’s deity. Usually, this is an altar or a small shrine within a larger temple.
- Consecration: The space must be kept “ritually pure.”
- Seclusion: To manufacture items, the Cleric must be undisturbed. This often means a private vestry or an isolated chapel.
A Cleric invests in Reliquaries and Sacramental Tools. To craft items, you generally need:
| Item Type | Purpose |
| An Altar | The primary “workbench” where the item is placed during the process. |
| Holy/Unholy Water | Used in massive quantities for purifying the base materials. |
| Incense & Oils | Essential for the ritual purification of the room and the Cleric. |
| Vestments | Special ritual robes worn only during the crafting process. |
| Sacred Symbols | Often high-quality or specially blessed versions of their deity’s icon. |
Assume a modest setup: a small stone chapel (~20×30 ft, 2 rooms: sanctuary + vestry), consecrated stone/marble altar (5×5 ft), basic furnishings (pews, font, relics), holy water/incense stocks, and consecration ceremony.
The outer “walls” are the cave. The inner walls and the mouth of the cave can be constructed of wood or stone.
- Wooden walls: 200 gp, 24 days (1,400 days; 38 workers = ~24 days)
- Soft stone walls: 850 gp, 35 days (2,473 worker-days. 50 workers = ~35 days)
Furnishings: Altar (5×5 ft carved slab/platform), Holy Water Font/Basin, Pews/Benches (4 wooden, seats 16), Relic/Icon/Statue, Vestments/Robes/Accouterments, Supplies Stock (incense/oils, 1 yr), Holy Water (10 vials stock): 1000 gp
The cave is 70 ft above the ground, and needs access. Options:
- Rope ladder 10 gp
- Permanent wooden ladders: 150 gp, 21 days
- Wooden stairs: 300 gp, 4-8 weeks
- Carve stairs out of the stone: 600 gp, 56 days
You probably want permanent residents, and maybe some defenses.
You probably need to set up access to the cave first to allow the workers to get up to build the walls.
Tienarth to Rehabilitate the Tower on the Naked Isle
- Construct a road from Osrendell to the tower, two miles long through the swamp. 1000 gp for 2 miles. Takes 8 weeks.
- Clean out remaining evil and disease. Consecrate the vampire lair. Remove the black mold. Hire Zhargrave. Cure disease on 20 rooms 6000 gp. Dispel evil on the vampire room 500 gp. 6,500 gp and two weeks.
- Refurbish all the hardware: doors, stairs, etc. Furnish the living areas. 16 wooden doors 160gp. Iron trap door 100 gp. 3 iron outside doors 300 gp. 560 gp and takes 2 weeks.
- Outfit an alchemical laboratory. 2,000 gp and 2 weeks.
- Outfit a 600 sf forge. 5,000 gp and 2 weeks.
- Outfit research lab of 400 sf. 3,000 gp and 2 weeks.
- Buy books for the library. 10,000 gp 2 weeks.
Steps 1 and 2 can parallel. Steps 3 and after must have step 1 finished. Steps 4-7 can parallel. 28,060 gp total cost. Minimum time is 12 weeks. Max time is 20 weeks.
On 3/1, a plague hit the Naked Isle. Traders do not enter plagued lands and the cost of imported goods increases five times. The cost of local goods doubles. This affects the cost of steps 4-7. Half of this total (20,000 gp) doubles and the other half goes up by 500%. The cost is now 70,000 gp.
The tower was complete 7/6/5549.
Nate to Establish a Temple to Nebro in St. Orlan
Nate the paladin wants a thriving church to Nebro set up in St. Orlan. There are four steps to this project.
- Purchase a plot of land in St. Orlan for the temple. This was completed. Session #149 – Nate to Build Temple to Nebro Using Newly Discovered Quarry
- Build a temple
- Bring in a minister or preacher
- Recruit followers
Nate, after dying and being resurrected by Lah, has given up his faith in Nebro and now worships the Anointed One. He may still build a new temple in St. Orlan to another saint, but not to Nebro.
