Borrowing from Dark Dungeons, combat has three steps: statement of intent, roll initiative, actions in initiative order.
- Players who wish to act first declare intent in any order. They get a +2 bonus to their initiative roll.
- The GM announces intent for the enemies.
- Players who wish to delay declare intent. They get a -2 penalty to their initiative roll.
When announcing intent, players must be specific about movement, action and target. The mode of attack must be specified. At the right initiative slot, the character may choose to do nothing or complete the action as intended. Actions, targets and modes of attack must remain as intended. Adjustment to movement can be made as long as it supports original intent. Characters can cut short a movement.
This is a provisional rule that we will be testing.
